For years, Apple iPhones have had a secret button located in place you’d never guess.

Technically that’s not even a button, but it works like one.

And no, it isn’t the Action Button or Camera Control.

Here’s a hint: it works with thick cases, too.

A hidden button that you genuinely can’t find

The tech industry is packed with Easter Eggs and secret features people can generally never find by accident.

There are secret numbers you can dial, arcade games hidden in Instagram DMs, and a useful face-blurring feature that comes as standard with all iPhones.

But this is something else.

Most Apple iPhones come with something called Back Tap.

Back Tap is an iOS feature (iOS 14+ on iPhone 8 or later) that turns the Apple logo on the back of the device into a customizable button.

You can use it for Siri, take screenshots, restart your device, and so on.

It’s a very long list.

Amazingly, it’s supposed to work even in case you’re using an iPhone case.

This means modern iPhones have at least three secret buttons

Some might argue that Back Tap is the third of three secret buttons available.

The first two are the Action Button and Camera Control.

Now, both the Action Button (which replaced the volume switch) and Camera Control aren’t physically hidden – they’re perfectly visible – but they do hide a lot of features some may have missed.

Camera Control, for example, allows you to do other things aside from opening the camera app.

You can use it to adjust settings, open camera-related apps (Instagram, for example) and plenty more.

And there’s more because a surprising number of people may not know that you can open your camera by swiping the screen left, and take pictures by pressing the volume button (both up or down).

The list goes on.

It’s such a shame we’ll never get to see an Apple Car.

It would’ve been interesting to see what Easter Eggs Apple would’ve included.
