Filming on Matt Reeves’ “The Batman: Part II is expected to get underway about three months from now with multiple key roles already set.
A new report from Jeff Sneider at The Hot Mic says one key part, that of Harvey Dent’s father Christopher Dent, remains uncast, with both Brad Pitt and now Stellan Skarsgård being offered and subsequently declining the role.
Whomever is cast will join Sebastian Stan as Harvey Dent and Scarlett Johansson as his wife Gilda Dent. They will join returnees Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb/The Penguin, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon and Barry Keoghan as The Joker.
Filming will take place primarily out of Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden as well as Liverpool and Glasgow. The project, like the last film, has no ties to Gunn & Safran’s DC Universe though is being produced by DC Studios.
The news follows a report the other day from scooper John Rocha whose sources indicated that another DC property, the Themyscira-set “Paradise Lost” TV series, “is dead” and there are no plans for a TV show any more at DC Studios.
That likely ties into the news last Summer that “Supergirl” scribe Ana Nogueira was writing a “Wonder Woman” movie for DC Studios, which now looks like it has seemingly supplanted “Paradise Lost”.
