There are over 30,000 recipients of the State Pension Contributory in the Shannonside Northern Sound region.
Figures were revealed earlier this week following a parliamentary question from Deputy Malcom Byrne to Minister for Social Protection, Dara Calleary.
The State Pension Contributory is a weekly, non-means-tested payment for people aged 66 or over with sufficient PRSI contributions, payable regardless of other income.
In terms of the Shannonside Northern Sound region, Cavan has the highest number of recipients at nearly 7,900.
There are just over 7,700 in Roscommon, 6,700 receive the payment in Monaghan while there are over 4,400 and 4,000 in Longford and Leitrim respectively.
Nationally, 560,571 receive the payment on a weekly basis.
