A Douglas County patrol took an unexpected turn when deputies encountered Charlie the Wallaby on the loose.
HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. — Deputies in Douglas County encountered a wallaby on a recent patrol.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office shared bodycam video of a recent call for a “kangaroo” on the run in a Highlands Ranch neighborhood.
The sheriff’s office said the suspect turned out to be Charlie the Wallaby, who even has his own Instagram page. Everyone was safe, as Charlie made his way home.
“You really don’t know what a day on patrol will bring at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office,” the sheriff’s office posted. “Deputies recently responded to a call no one had on their bingo card.”
The story immediately became one for the books,” the sheriff’s office posted. “From routine calls to the unexpected (and occasionally adorable), our deputies are always ready — no matter what hops their way.”
“I’m not going to lie, this is going to be the highlight of my year,” a sergeant said.
