Chris Hemsworth has officially begun his 2026 run with the release of his latest film, and his R-rated entry is continuing a great streak for the Australian actor.
Crime 101, which was released in theaters on Friday, February 13, is currently sitting with 85% on the Popcornmeter on Rotten Tomatoes. The R-rated project makes it the actor’s fifth movie in a row to have a solid rating from audience members over the last four years.

Crime 101 is also the third Hemsworth-starring project to have a better Audience Score than Critics’ Score since 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder. The MCU entry has stayed at 63% in the Critics’ Score while having a 76% rating on the Popcornmeter.
From Hemsworth’s movies in the past, the last one that landed with a rotten designation among audience members was Spiderhead. Just like Crime 101, the 2022 entry has 30% on the Popcornmeter while holding a 39% Critics’ Score.
However, Crime 101’s box office start on opening weekend has not been an easy one, with the project having debuted with $17.7 million coming in domestically. The thriller film is also battling the release of Wuthering Heights at the box office, with the Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi-starring project having opened on the same day.
In ScreenRant’s Crime 101 movie review, Gregory Nussen addressed how the film “works more often than it doesn’t, and if nothing else it is extremely exciting to have an original crime film in the vein of New Hollywood’s best.” The film was helmed and written by Bart Layton, based on Don Winslow’s novel.
The next project that Hemsworth will be seen in on the big screen will be towards the very end of 2026, as he will be reprising the role of Thor in Avengers: Doomsday, slated to open on December 18. Mark Ruffalo, who also stars in Crime 101, is making his comeback to the MCU in 2026, too, as he will return in Spider-Man: Brand New Year on July 31.
Crime 101, which also stars Halle Berry, Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbaro, and Corey Hawkins, is now playing in theaters.
