Actor Ranbir Kapoor has finally addressed persistent fan demands for a sequel to his 2013 romantic drama Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, making it clear that a second instalment is not on the cards.

Ranbir shared his views during a Valentine’s Day Instagram Live session on the official account of his venture, ARKS. Responding to fan questions, the actor reflected on the enduring popularity of the film, which continues to enjoy a loyal fan base 12 years after its release.
“A lot of you guys want part 2, but there are so many new movies, new directors, and new ideas to work with. I think Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani had the perfect end. So it won’t have a part 2,” Ranbir said. While ruling out a direct sequel, Ranbir assured fans that he remains open to exploring similar themes in the future. “But maybe another film would come, of a similar genre, which you guys would enjoy too,” he added.
The film, directed by Ayan Mukerji, starred Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapur and Kalki Koechlin alongside Ranbir. Its coming-of-age narrative, music and portrayal of modern relationships have cemented its status as a fan favourite.
Beyond Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Ranbir also provided updates on his much-anticipated film slate. He spoke about Love & War, the ambitious period romance directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, in which he stars alongside Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. Originally slated for an August 2026 release, the film has reportedly been delayed and may now arrive later that year or even in 2027.
The actor also revealed that work on Brahmastra: Part Two – Dev, directed by Ayan Mukerji, is expected to begin sooner than anticipated. Additionally, he confirmed that Animal Park, the sequel to Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, is likely to go on floors by mid-next year.
