Beyond Zionism: After Gaza, the American Jewish Left Rethinks Jewish Identity

A recent survey by the Jewish Federations of North America found that only one third of American Jews identify as Zionist. This, of course, doesn’t mean that most American Jews want to dismantle the State of Israel. Nine out of ten Jews support Israel’s right to exist as a “Jewish and democratic state,” and 70 percent said they felt emotionally attached to Israel.
