Deputy Commissioner Ido Katzir, head of the Operations Division of the Jerusalem District Police, told Ynet studio that “Ramadan begins today after extensive staff work that prepares us for all threats and scenarios. Ramadan is ultimately a holiday and not necessarily a call for war. The connection between terrorist attacks and religion exists, but there is no concrete warning.” Regarding restrictions on Jewish prayer on the Temple Mount during Ramadan, he added: “The Temple Mount is closed to Jewish visitors at noon and therefore we have expanded the morning hours. We are allowing freedom of worship.”
