Hisense has announced its C3 | Smart Mini Projector 4K (model HSN) as its latest 4K laser projector targeting general home cinema and large-screen use cases. The C3 – which is an update to the C2 – is designed to project screens from 65” ~ 300” and is positioned between conventional laser TVs and compact projectors.

The device is classed as a smart mini projector with a 4K Ultra HD panel at 3840 x 2160 resolution and uses triple-colour laser technology for its light source. It covers 110 % of the BT.2020 colour space and lists 2500 ANSI lumens brightness with a 2000:1 contrast ratio. Support for tonal formats includes HDR, HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG, while Dolby Vision playback is also available.

Hisense includes what it terms ‘Auto Magic AI Adjusting 2.0’, which applies automatic focus, trapezoid correction and obstacle detection. The gimbal style mounting allows projection at varied angles with up to 135º vertical rotation and 360º horizontal adjustment. A 1.0–1.3:1 optical zoom lets operators adjust the image size without moving the unit physically.

The C3 runs the VIDAA U9 smart platform and has built-in support for apps such as Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, Disney+ and FIFA+, and although Apple TV (formerly Apple TV+) isn’t specifically mentioned, you can see Apple TV splash as an option in some of the promotional materials. However, Screen sharing and AirPlay 2 are supported. Onboard connectivity includes two HDMI 2.1 ports (one with eARC and ALLM), two USB 3.0 ports, an Ethernet RJ45 socket and S/PDIF and headphone outputs. Wireless connectivity covers dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Sound is generated by two 10W drivers with DTS Virtual X processing and a user equaliser. There is no integrated Dolby Atmos speaker array specified however. Gaming support is referenced with a designated HSR240 Game Mode and a specification indicating input latency of 20ms or lower in game mode.
The projector supports 3D playback (DLP Link shutter glasses required) and voice control (VIDAA Voice) in supported regions. The unit includes an accessory carry case and offers multiple installation options, including wall, ceiling or floor placement. The C3 weighs 5.3kg net (8.1kg gross). It accepts standard 120-240V mains, so it’ll work pretty much anywhere, and lists a maximum power draw of 180W.
If you’re in Germany, the C3 is available to purchase for €1,699 from heimkinoraum and possibly other places.
