The new RECOM RMOD4000 series of compact, plug-and-play DC-DCs is a cost-effective solution to the provision of isolated 14V, 28V, or 56VDC network rails from a high input voltage between 180VDC and 950VDC from traction batteries. Up to 4kW is available depending on variant and input voltage, and a conversion efficiency of up to 95%, together with baseplate or liquid cooling options, results in cool running and high reliability and lifetime.
The output is fully regulated and protected against over-current, over-voltage, over-temperature, and short circuits, while the input has under-and over-voltage lockout and active inrush suppression. An isolated CAN J1939 interface is provided to allow control and data monitoring, including output voltage adjustment. A separate hardware on/off control (ignition) and HV-interlock-function is included. As an added feature, an integrated OR-ing function is implemented, allowing paralleling of units for redundancy or increased power capability with active current sharing. Operating temperature is -40C to +85C with no derating.
Full reinforced isolation is supplied to IEC62477-1, vehicle safety standards ISO6469-3, and ISO 7637 are met, and the EMC standard ECER10 Rev 4 is certified (E-mark).
The RMOD4000 series is presented in a water- and dust-proof cast aluminium enclosure to IP67 standard and can be baseplate or water-cooled with integrated coolant ports. Body dimensions are 316mm x 254mm x 83mm, and sealed, plug-in connectors are provided for input and outputs.
Applications for the product are as an on-board DC-DC converter for battery-powered on- and off-highway vehicles, such as forklifts, golf carts, AGVs, loaders, tractors, ships, and electric boats, in the areas of marine, material handling, construction, airports, E-mobility, as well as for battery-powered boats and marine systems.
