The senior envoy of the Peace Council for Gaza, Nikolai Mladenov, said at the opening of the council’s conference that “2,000 Palestinians have already applied to join the new police force.” According to him, “This morning we began the recruitment process. The temporary police force will be established in Gaza under the responsibility of the national committee, and it will be trained in Egypt.”
