â– The IDF said that troops in Gaza on Friday “identified a terrorist who crossed the Yellow Line and approached the troops”, and that the IAF subsequently “eliminated the terrorist.”
â– Israel Police are expected to ask Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara for permission to question far-right MK Limor Son Har-Melech of the Otzma Yehudit party, who on Thursday entered Gaza overnight with dozens of civilians to call for resettlement of the Strip.
â– U.S. President Donald Trump has told Congress he is pursuing a civil nuclear pact with Saudi Arabia that does not include non-proliferation safeguards the U.S. has long said would ensure the kingdom does not develop nuclear weapons.
â– The militant group Hamas is holding elections to determine its new interim leadership, according to a report in the BBC. The front-runners are said to be Khalil al-Hayya, a Hamas leader in Gaza who is thought to be aligned with former leaders Yahya Sinwar and Ismail Haniyeh; and Khaled Meshal, who leads the Hamas movement outside of the Palestinian territories.
â– A court has extended the detention of a 19-year-old resident of Bnei Brak who is suspected of tipping over a police car during Sunday’s riots in the ultra-Orthodox city, which were sparked by the visit of two female IDF soldiers.
â– The Jordanian Waqf, which oversees administration of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, estimated that around 80,000 worshippers participated in the first Friday prayers of the holy Muslim month of Ramadan.
