The Foreign Office in Berlin called on German citizens in the Middle East to take safety precautions in light of a potential U.S. attack on Iran, which could also have consequences for Israel and other countries in the region.

Germans in Israel are advised to prepare to stay at their location for some time in case the airspace is closed due to Iranian attacks, the German embassy in Tel Aviv advised on Tuesday. If the United States attacks Iran, it is expected that Tehran will also target sites in Israel. In the event of an airspace closure, “the support options from the embassy and the Foreign Office are very limited,” the embassy stated further.

It advised German citizens in Israel, “in view of the escalating security situation in the region,” to stock up on supplies and familiarize themselves with protection options and shelters at every location.
