Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Israel for an official visit on Wednesday afternoon.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Modi have a “close personal relationship” which “strongly reflects the relations between the two countries,” the Prime Minister’s Office’s statement read.

Modi’s visit began with a ceremony at Ben-Gurion Airport, including a private meeting between the prime ministers.

Following the private meeting, Modi is due to proceed to the Knesset, with an official reception ceremony, and speeches at the Knesset plenum, the PMO announced.

After that, both prime ministers will attend an innovation event at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, Jerusalem, followed by the Netanyahus hosting Modi for a joint dinner.

On Thursday, the prime ministers will visit Yad Vashem and hold an expanded meeting at the King David Hotel in Jerusalem.

The leaders will then sign a series of agreements between Israel and India, in economic, security, and diplomatic fields, “boosting cooperation between the two nations,” which will be followed by joint press statements, the PMO confirmed.

Modi was greeted by Netanyahu and his wife Sara at Ben-Gurion Airport. He is due to speak at the Knesset on Tuesday afternoon and will visit Yad Vashem on Thursday as part of his trip.

This is a developing story.
