In the first meetings of the program “Ecological Regeneration for Active Citizenship”, we started a process of learning, listening and dialogue with the classes of the “Ignazio Vian” High School in Bracciano, designed to gradually build a climate of trust and lay the foundations for the work of the coming months. In this context, students took part in a participatory discussion on four key topics: food and production methods, eco-anxiety and climate change, landscape and local biodiversity, and the state of water in Lakes Bracciano and Martignano.

The dialogue revealed a strong interest in where food comes from, the role of animal farming, the differences between local production and large-scale distribution, and also in the social value of food as an everyday moment of relationship and sharing. At the same time, many students expressed the desire to get to know their territory and its biodiversity more deeply – from lake fauna and flora to surrounding woodlands – weaving this curiosity together with personal experiences linked to extreme weather events and eco-anxiety. This beginning, grounded in listening and participation, connects everyday experiences, territory and sustainability, and aims to build, together with young people, an educational pathway that is both conscious and deeply rooted in the local context.
