Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is officially pushing Hell’s Kitchen into even darker territory.
Daredevil: Born Again season 1 ended with Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk/Kingpin tightening his grip on the city after declaring martial law, effectively criminalizing vigilantes and cementing his authority as mayor.
Now, a new update from SFX Magazine has revealed that Daredevil: Born Again season 2 will feature a time jump following Fisk’s consolidation of power, setting the stage for a dramatically changed New York City under the Kingpin’s rule. According to showrunner Dario Scardapane, season 2 will pick up roughly six months later. Read Scardapane’s comments below:
Fisk has won, the city is gradually being put under his boot and we pick up all of our major players around six months later. The Fisk administration at this point has really taken hold. At the same time, there’s a bubbling up of an underground.
New York is being transformed. Some people might call that a rebirth, some might call it decay. And the characters are being transformed by dint of huge political machinations.
The time jump means viewers will meet Hell’s Kitchen in a fundamentally altered state. Rather than exploring the immediate fallout of the martial law, season 2 will show what happens after the dust has settled and Fisk’s regime starts to reshape the city. This approach gives the creative team room to heighten the stakes and show a more oppressive, controlled New York than audiences have seen before.

Charlie Cox will return as Matt Murdock, whose moral and physical battle against Fisk is far from over. Also returning are Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Michael Gandolfini as Daniel Blake, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Wilson Bethel as Bullseye, and Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones. Matthew Lillard is also confirmed to have joined the cast. Jon Bernthal will not return as Frank Castle for the second season.
Kingpin remains at the center of the story. Season 1 saw his political ascent, culminating in martial law and a public crackdown on vigilantes. With season 2 leaping forward, Fisk will be operating from a position of established dominance rather than ambition. This power shift significantly changes the tension between him and Matt. Instead of trying to prevent Fisk’s rise, Daredevil will be confronting a full-fledged regime.
Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is currently in production, with Marvel Studios continuing to refine its street-level corner of the MCU. Born Again has already marked a major step in reestablishing Daredevil as a central figure in the MCU following Cox and D’Onofrio’s previous appearances in other Marvel projects.
The decision to implement a time jump also signals confidence in the long-term story of Born Again. By having events happen offscreen, the series can explore the psychological and societal consequences of Fisk’s rule in a more layered way. The upcoming season might lean even harder into political tension and moral conflict, using the time jump as a tool to escalate the narrative.
The six-month time jump also suggests that alliances and rivalries could look very different when the story resumes. With Fisk firmly embedded in city leadership, any resistance will likely be operating in the shadows, setting up a tense, high-stakes conflict between underground vigilantes and an empowered mayor’s office.
As anticipation builds for the series premiere, Daredevil: Born Again season 2 promises to examine what happens when justice is forced into hiding. By jumping forward in time, the series raises the stakes for Matt Murdock’s mission, positioning Daredevil not just as a hero fighting crime but as a symbol of defiance.
Daredevil: Born Again season 2 premieres March 24 on Disney+.
