We’ve all heard of A.I. fucking up people’s Spotify pages and spreading misinformation, but never both of those uses coming together. Well, that was until recently when a series of A.I. generated posts on social media claimed Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo was diagnosed with blood cancer.
As you might suspect given this post’s headline, it’s total bullshit. At 57 years old, Phil Anselmo hasn’t announced a cancer diagnosis. In fact, he posted a video on his official social media page — which you can watch below — to shut that rumor down, ultimately reassuring fans he’s doing just fine.
“Ladies and gentlemen, Philip H. Anselmo here. There’s an A.I. page that is going bananas about me, and it’s putting out bullshit, bullshit, bullshit. I’m healthy as a horse. There’s incredible stuff going on. Mixing the new Down. King Parrot is coming into town. Performing the new En Minor in the studio, trying to get that finished. There’s a zillion things going on. Anyway, I hope everybody else is healthy, as we are over here. Much love to you, and thank you everyone who wished me a speedy recovery and all that. Come on. Damn A.I. shit.”
As Anslemo said in his video, the dude’s crazy busy as of late, having just finished a long run with the Pantera tribute act. Now he’s got a new Down record in the works and apparently he’s working on new En Minor — which if you haven’t listened to that particular project and like your music downtrodden and sad, you need to listen to En Minor.
Either way, this is just another case that proves that A.I. fuckin’ sucks.
