CHICAGO – Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com appears on “The Morning Mess” with Dan Baker for WBGR-FM (Monroe, Wisconsin) on February 26th, 2026, reviewing the new film DREAMS, featuring Jessica Chastain and written/directed by Michel Franco. In theaters on February 20th.
Chastain is Jennifer McCarthy, a wealthy woman who with her brother Jake (Rupert Friend) runs their family foundation. The funding focus are dance companies, but the film starts out mysteriously as Mexican expatriate Fernando (Isaac Hernández) enters the U.S. illegally and makes his way to her. It turns out the two are lovers, as Jennifer had met him while he was dancing for the Mexico City ballet. This begins a pas de deux of pride and desire, as the star-crossed lovers are caught in a web of extreme wealth, immigration status, high level ballet art and their own fragile egos.
DREAMS is in select theaters February 27th. See local listings. Featuring Jessica Chastain, Isaac Hernández, Rupert Friend, Marshall Bel and Mercedes Hernández. Written and directed by Michel Franco. Rated “R”
