Bursa inched higher by midday, with the benchmark FBM KLCI rising 0.04% or 0.59 points to 1,603.93, as investors showed cautious optimism amid mixed regional cues.

The broader market followed suit, with the FBM70 up 0.30% to 16,801.51 and the FBMEMAS gaining 0.14% to 11,942.73. Shariah-compliant equities also advanced, with the FBMSHA adding 0.17% to 11,992.33. The F4GBM index rose 0.11% to 965.52.

Trading activity was dominated by technology and solar-related counters. JSSOLAR’s debut surged 29% to RM0.40 on heavy volume of 55.5 million shares, while XOXTECH gained 100% to RM0.07 with 42.9 million shares changing hands. Other active stocks included NEXG, PHARMA, and SFPTECH, which recorded modest gains.

The cautious buying came as regional markets showed mixed trends. In Asia, the Nikkei 225 in Japan climbed 0.2%, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index fell 0.3% in morning trading. Wall Street futures suggested a slightly positive open for US markets later in the day, reflecting steady sentiment after mixed corporate earnings reports.
