Deacon and Deke are chatting it up at the pizza kitchen. Deke asks about the conversation with Hope and Deacon says it was the same old thing about being proud of him but for Sheila. Deke understands and agrees. He follows up by saying his dad should make a life with Taylor.
Taylor and Sheila are having an uncomfortable chat about Deacon. Sheila is going on and on about her most recent marital sexual liaison, which doesn’t thrill Taylor. Sheila apologizes but just can’t believe how good it was. She believes it’s all because the impact Taylor has on her husband and begs her not to stop seeing him. Sheila says their marriage relies on his therapy and wants to call Taylor her friend (Is Sheila messing with Taylor?). Sheila knows the unforgiveable things she’s done (like trying to murder her daughter!) but thinks they’ve gotten beyond it. Taylor stops her and says she can’t see Deacon anymore because he has “graduated.” Deacon has made so much progress he doesn’t need her. Sheila leans in and assures Taylor she knows just how much her husband needs her.
