The Democratic candidate for New York City mayor known for his anti-Israel positions, Zohran Mamdani, wished Jews in the city “Shana Tova” in Hebrew and participated for the first time in Rosh Hashanah prayers as part of an effort to connect with Jewish voters during the holiday season. Mamdani arrived at a progressive synagogue in Brooklyn, sat in the front row alongside the city’s Comptroller, Jewish Brad Lander, wore a kippah and was warmly received by worshippers. Next week Mamdani plans to also attend Yom Kippur services at another synagogue in Manhattan.
