MONTICELLO- A familiar voice to radio listeners across Sullivan County and the Catskills is celebrating a major milestone.
Local radio personality Eddie Wilson recently marked 40 years in broadcasting, a career that has spanned multiple stations across the tri-state region and continues today as the morning host on 95.9 VOS-FM.
Wilson began his radio career on Valentine’s Day in 1986 at WFMV-FM. Over the years, he worked at a number of stations throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York, including WIXL-FM, WNNJ-FM, WAEB-FM, WNEW-AM, WFAS-FM and WSUL-FM.
During his time at WSUL-FM, Wilson served as the afternoon host and music director. Throughout his career he has also worked in commercial production, traffic reporting and weekend air shifts across the region.
Since December 2011, Wilson has been part of the team at VOS-FM, where he hosts the station’s morning show while also contributing to production work and public service programming. Known for his upbeat on-air personality, creative song montages and artist tributes, Wilson has become a familiar presence for listeners throughout Sullivan County and the Catskills.
Beyond radio, Wilson is also the co-host of the pop culture podcast The Marvelists.
“Eddie Wilson is a true radio broadcaster, dedicated to his craft and to the community he serves,” said Dawn Ciorciari, general manager of Bold Gold Media. “For 40 years he has brought music, personality and a genuine love of radio to listeners every day. His passion for connecting with people and making their mornings brighter is exactly what local radio is all about, and we are incredibly lucky to have him at Bold Gold Media.”
Reflecting on the milestone, Wilson said his passion for radio remains as strong as when he first went on the air.
“I’ve always felt that listening to music on the radio makes people happy,” Wilson said. “That’s what I wanted to do. After 40 years, I still consider my job as a work in progress.”
