The Rove chair, by industrial designer Jörg Boner
How far can you push bent plywood? Zurich-based industrial designer Jörg Boner seems to have pushed this 12mm-thick material as far as it will go:

“Rove chair is constructed from sewing patterns, much like those familiar from fashion. Plywood, with its flat layers of veneer, can also be seen as a kind of fabric. Like weaving, the wood grain intersects with each layer, giving stability to the final form.”

“The limitation of a two-dimensional deformation serves as both the driving force and the inspiration for this chair. The core element of the chair is a piece of moulded wood which has been pressed into place underneath the seat. The connection with this core, in combination with the way in which it is moulded, give the backrest an elastic bounce. The chair is light, extraordinarily comfortable, and stackable.”

The Rove chair is in production by Dutch manufacturer DeVorm.
