AUSTIN, Texas — Behind a career performance from Luke Harrison, No. 2 Texas evened the series with an 11-2 victory over Ole Miss at UFCU Disch-Falk Field on Saturday afternoon.
Harrison (2-0) tossed a career-long seven innings, yielding a pair of unearned runs to lead the Longhorns (17-1, 1-1 SEC) to their first conference win of the year.
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound left-hander recorded eight strikeouts, finishing one shy of his career high.
Harrison limited the Rebels (16-4, 1-1 SEC) to five hits and one walk across his 102-pitch outing.
With the graduate student maneuvering through the visiting lineup, Texas’ offense scored nine unanswered runs to close the contest.
The Longhorns totaled two in the fourth, three in the sixth and punctuated the burst with a four-run seventh.
Ethan Mendoza notched a game-high three RBI, registering the go-ahead hit in the fourth. Mendoza also delivered a sacrifice fly in the sixth before mounting a run-scoring single in the seventh.
Meanwhile, Aiden Robbins and Adrian Rodriguez each drove in two runs in the victory.
After dropping the series opener in 11 innings on Friday, Texas raced out of the gate with a pair of tallies in the first frame.
Anthony Pack Jr. singled through the left side, chasing home Mendoza and Robbins. Robbins appeared to be thrown out at home plate, but the umpires signaled for obstruction to push the Longhorns ahead, 2-0.
Ole Miss responded with two of its own in the third, capitalizing on a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly.
Harrison held the Rebels there, setting the stage for Texas’ offensive explosion.
Prior to Saturday’s showdown, the Longhorns hosted their first traDISCHions day of the 2026 campaign.
Texas honored right-handed pitcher J. Brent Cox, who guided the Longhorns to three consecutive College World Series appearances, including the 2005 national championship.
After being selected in the second round of the 2005 Major League Baseball Draft by the New York Yankees, Cox would go on to play five years in professional baseball.
Texas will look to secure the series on Sunday. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m. at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
