Summary
KDE Plasma 6.7.0 shows the difference between your local time and your added time zone clocks.
Each extra clock will show how many hours it’s ahead of or behind your local time.
Great for scheduling global meetings and avoiding time-zone confusion.
The internet has done wonders in connecting me to people living around the world, but it has also made me learn about time zones the hard way. It’s difficult enough trying to organize a group spread across the US’s different time zones, Europe, and Australia together when time zones come into play, and then some people change their clocks while others don’t, and it throws everything off kilter.
Well, if you, too, are tired of googling “8 PM in PST,” then KDE Plasma’s 6.7.0 will have something for you. The KDE team has confirmed a new feature for the Digital Clock widget that will let you know the time difference between your local time and your overseas clocks.

Over on the KDE website, we’ve been treated to another issue of This Week in Plasma. This acts as a weekly update on what everyone is working on for KDE Plasma, and while the features covered there won’t be released for a little while yet, it’s still a cool insight into what the community is cooking up.
The star of this week’s digest is an update to the Digital Clock, scheduled to release with KDE Plasma 6.7.0 in a few months. Right now, you can set up different time zone clocks in the Digital Clock widget, which is really handy for figuring out what time it is right now in different countries. However, when it comes to figuring out the time zone difference for, say, arranging a meeting while you’re abroad, you still need to manually count the hours yourself.
Well, with KDE Plasma 6.7.0, that will change:
For each additional time zone you add to the Digital Clock widget, it now also shows how far forward or behind that time zone is compared to yours. (Nate Graham, plasma-workspace MR #6417)
You can see an example of this time zone display in the image above. It’s a very simple change that adds the number of hours between you and your established time zones, but it’s a lifesaver if you’re working or socialising with people around the world.
This Week in Plasma also details all the bug fixes, tweaks, and UI adjustments we can expect from future updates, so be sure to give the full list of changes a read if you’re interested.
