Princess Charlene of Monaco channeled a bit of method dressing with her Elie Saab gown on Saturday night at the 2026 Rose Ball, where she joined other members of Monaco’s royal family, among other special guests.
For the black tie event, Princess Charlene wore a celestial gown courtesy of the Lebanese designer’s eponymous label. The gown featured a gray base tone, with a fitted bodice and some fabric ruching that collected at one hip for a slight asymmetrical material effect.

The skirt of the gown flowed with a bevy of movement. Asymmetry continued through the look, featuring a one-shoulder cape effect that added depth and contrast to Princess Charlene’s overall attire. Over the bodice and shoulder of the cape, Princess Charlene’s gown was embellished with shimmering silver crystals and sequins.
The gown created an overall celestial effect, a method dressing choice that nodded to the galaxy-themed 2026 Rose Ball. As for finishing touches, Princess Charlene wore a pair metallic silver heels and a set of diamond floral statement earrings.

Elie Saab is a designer who frequently appears in Princess Charlene’s royal wardrobe. At the 2024 Rose Ball, the royal sported a ’70s-inspired sequin and tulle jumpsuit by the designer for the disco-themed iteration of the event.
Princess Charlene isn’t the only royal who favors Elie Saab. Despite her love of London-based designers and fashion houses like McQueen and Jenny Packham, Kate Middleton has also worn a few Elie Saab designs since joining the British royal family. Most notably, the Princess of Wales wore a blue dress by the designer to the 2019 edition of Royal Ascot, a look she re-wore four years later for a garden party in 2023.

Established in 1954, the annual Rose Ball raises funds for the Princess Grace Foundation, which supports emerging artists in theater, dance and film through career-advancing grants. Monaco’s royal family, of which Princess Grace, formerly Grace Kelly, was apart, regularly attends the black tie event.
