Netflix has dropped the first look at Stranger Things Season 5, teasing the long-awaited final stand against the Upside Down. And it’s shaping up to be the show’s most ambitious chapter yet.

The new promotional clip reflects on the characters’ journey from Hawkins’ small-town mysteries to full-scale supernatural war while offering tantalizing glimpses of what’s next. The clip is filled with flashbacks of our favorite team of unlikely heroes, interviews with the cast and creators, and a few glimpses of fresh destruction raining down on Hawkins.

According to the Duffer Brothers, this will be the “biggest season” ever with bigger action, bigger effects, and a story that pushes every character to their limit. Millie Bobby Brown adds that Season 5 is “more of a mission, more of an adventure,” and promises that no one will be left on the sidelines. With its cryptic teases, Netflix’s clip signals that the final showdown could change Stranger Things forever.

The Duffer Brothers have consistently described Season 5 as both a culmination and an escalation, promising not only answers about the nature of the Upside Down but also a narrative scope that rivals any of the series’ previous climaxes. Per the official synopsis, “the story takes place a year after the events of the fourth season, in the fall of 1987.”

“The group seeks to find and kill Vecna after the Rifts opened in Hawkins,” the official description continues. “The mission becomes complicated when the military arrives in Hawkins and begins hunting Eleven. As the anniversary of Will Byers’ disappearance approaches, the group must fight one last time against a deadly threat.”

The Final Season of Stranger Things Will Be Epic

Ross Duffer recently revealed that two episodes of Stranger Things Season 5 Chapter Three involved “the most logistically insane shoot” of the series. “‘The Turnbow Trap’ is the most classic Stranger Things-y episode of the season,” he said, referring to the episode’s title. “It’s got all our favorite things. ‘Sorcerer’ is massive. As big as any finale we’ve ever done, and the most logistically insane shoot of our lives”

Since its debut on Netflix in July 2016, Stranger Things has become nothing short of a cultural juggernaut. Created by the Duffer Brothers, the series quickly captured audiences with its perfect blend of 1980s nostalgia, supernatural thrills, and coming-of-age drama. It wasn’t long before Hawkins, Indiana, became a household name, and Netflix had a bona fide smash hit on its hands.

Returning for the conclusion are series lead stars Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair), Noah Schnapp (Will Byers), Sadie Sink (Max Mayfield), Winona Ryder (Joyce Byers) and David Harbour (Jim Hopper), alongside a roster of supporting players who have helped make Stranger Things a success.

Stranger Things Season 5 premieres on Netflix on Nov. 26.
