Tori Spelling says it was she and Jennie Garth who convinced producer Aaron Spelling to add Lindsay Price to the cast of Beverly Hills, 90210

In a new podcast, Spelling notes that Price joined the show “as a guest star”

But she was “so amazing,” Spelling added, that the other cast members wanted her to stick around

Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth are recounting how they convinced Tori’s dad — producer Aaron Spelling — to make Lindsay Price a series regular on Beverly Hills, 90210.

Price, 49, joined the show in season 8 as Janet Sosna, a graphic designer and later editor at the Beverly Beat newspaper. She eventually became a main character and remained on the show through its finale in May 2000.

In the Friday, Mar. 27 episode of their 90210MG podcast, 52-year-old Spelling said Price was “brought on as a guest star to literally just be on the paper” — and it was she and Garth, 53, who convinced the powers that be to add the actress to the show more permanently.

Spelling recalled that Price, now 49, “got along with everyone.”

“She’s such a kind soul and an easy person to get along with and work with,” she added.

Echoed Garth: “It felt like she came in with, like, no pretense. She was just, like, open and happy to be there, and I think that just that energy just spread so quickly, and it was refreshing, honestly.”

“It was so cool,” Spelling said, recalling the role she and Garth had in adding Lindsay to the cast: “But there is some story that — you and I at a wrap party on the dance floor, went up to my dad, and we said, ‘Lindsey is so great. Everyone loves her. She’s so talented. It’d be great to make Janet a series regular.'”

“He listened to us. That was nice,” Garth said, adding, “Because he was like, ‘We want everybody to be happy here. It’s been a rough road a little bit.'”

Back in 2022, Garth, Spelling and Price all recreated a moment from the show on Spelling’s Instagram.

The scene — which came from season 10 — showed Janet speaking to Kelly (played by Garth) and Donna (played by Spelling) about being pregnant with Steve’s (Ian Ziering) baby.

Beverly Hills, 90210 ran from 1990 to 2000 and starred Spelling, Garth, Price, Ziering, Brian Austin Green, Jason Priestley, Luke Perry, Shannen Doherty and Tiffani Thiessen.
