The upcoming anime adaptation of the original Masamune Shirow manga, Ghost in the Shell, gets a new trailer showing off how faithful it is to the host work
With Science Saru helming the production, this new Ghost in the Shell anime looks remarkably close to the original manga.
From the addition of the original Fuchikomas to how characters are portrayed, this is arguably the most faithful-looking adaptation of Ghost in the Shell to date.
In fact, fans of the original manga have had to wait actual decades for this type of adaptation to come about, and I am not sure why it’s taken so long.
Admittedly, we had the old PlayStation game that featured animated cutscenes that were very faithful to the manga, but since the 1995 anime film, the approach has deviated from the manga quite a bit.
So to see Science Saru just adapt the manga as-is into an anime is rather wonderful.
I am also expecting Science Saru to properly nail this adaptation, as their take on Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken, also based on a manga, was thoroughly superb.
The Ghost in the Shell is released in Japan this July, and while there is currently no word on a Western release, it will likely get an international release sometime later this year.
