The former Radio 2 DJ Scott Mills has spoken for the first time since he was sacked by the BBC last week in a statement released Wednesday evening.

The BBC has admitted it knew back in 2017 that the police had investigated the presenter – but took the decision to terminate his contract following what they called new information.

Mills denied claims of historic sexual abuse that he says dates back nearly 30 years, and the police investigation was closed in 2019 for lack of evidence.
