Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health has become the sole owner of MRI Group LLP and Lancaster PET Partnership LLP. The groups, which are headquartered in Lancaster city, have six locations in Lancaster and Chester counties.

“The acquisition (of the two groups) involved the practices and equipment only, and there are no changes planned to staffing, services, or the patient experience as a result of the acquisition,” LG Health spokesperson Marcie Brody said.

Brody did not respond to questions from an LNP | LancasterOnline reporter regarding the cost of the acquisition or the number of employees at all locations.

Previously, LG Heath and Lancaster Radiology Associates jointly owned the service groups, which provide MRI services and PET imaging, scans that show signs of cancer, heart disease and brain problems.

The practices are separate legal entities that run as affiliated partnerships under the umbrella organization MRI Group, Brody said.

Physicians at Lancaster Radiology Associates will continue to interpret MRI results.

“Bringing both services into our health system strengthens the long-term stability of imaging in our community and helps ensure patients continue receiving the highest levels of safety and clinical quality,” LG Health CEO Michael Barber said. “Full integration will enable us to standardize subspecialized coverage, expand access for patients and reinforce our commitment to high-quality, patient-centered imaging services now and in the future.”

MRI Group offers services at the following locations: Lime Street (adjacent to Lancaster General Hospital) in Lancaster city; LG Health Downtown Pavilion in Lancaster city; LG Health Suburban Pavilion in East Hempfield Township; LG Health Kissel Hill in Warwick Township; LG Health Norlanco in Mount Joy Township; and LG Health Parkesburg in Sadsbury Township, Chester County. PET scans are offered at LG Health Suburban Pavilion.
