Alexandria residents are experiencing widespread internet, television and phone service disruptions Thursday as Xfinity grapples with a major outage affecting multiple neighborhoods across the city.
The outage began around 8 a.m. Thursday, with Xfinity sending initial notifications to affected customers by 8:20 a.m. acknowledging the service interruption. The company’s first estimate projected restoration by 11:10 a.m., but that timeline was later pushed back to 2 p.m. in a follow-up message sent to customers at 10:01 a.m.
“We’re working to resolve the issue by approximately 09/25/2025 11:10 am (Eastern). We apologize for any inconvenience. We’ll text you with updates,” read the initial customer notification.
The outage has impacted multiple neighborhoods including Seminary Hill, Taylor Run, Eisenhower West and areas near the Potomac River, according to Comcast’s outage map. Purple circles indicating the highest level of service disruptions — affecting more than 2,000 customers each — are scattered throughout Alexandria.
Customers are experiencing outages affecting internet, cable television, phone and streaming services. The outage map shows concentrated service disruptions in densely populated areas, with some neighborhoods experiencing smaller-scale outages. Areas near Arlington and the Potomac waterfront also show service interruptions.
