Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) has reported three more deaths of patients with measles-like symptoms in 24 hours, raising concerns as the number of suspected cases continues to rise.

According to the latest update from the hospital, the deaths occurred within the 24-hour until 12:00pm today.

With the latest fatalities, the total number of deaths from suspected measles deaths at the hospital has reached 38 this year, said RMCH Spokesperson Dr Shankar K Biswas.

During the same period, 25 new suspected measles patients were admitted, while three were discharged, indicating sustained pressure on the hospital’s paediatric wards.

Currently, 149 patients with suspected measles are undergoing treatment at RMCH, he said.

“So far this year, a total of 377 suspected measles patients have been admitted to the hospital.”

Hospital authorities said they are closely monitoring the situation, adding that the growing influx of patients is putting additional strain on facilities.
