Here are the key updates from day 36 of war in Israel, the West Bank, Gaza, Lebanon, Iran, the United States and the Middle East:
â– U.S.-Israeli strikes killed at least nine civilians across Iran in the past day, the Human Rights Activists News Agency reported. A total of 272 strikes were conducted on Saturday in 14 provinces, causing 184 casualties. Most strikes hit Tehran, followed by Khuzestan and Isfahan.
â– Israel and the U.S. struck the area in Iran where a missing U.S. serviceman is believed to be, killing three people, the regime-affiliated Tasnim news agency reported. An Israeli official told CNN that some strikes were postponed to aid the search.
â– At least five people were killed and around 170 others wounded in U.S.-Israeli airstrikes targeting a major petrochemical complex in southwestern Iran, according to Iranian state media. The industrial hub, Mahshahr Special Petrochemical Economic Zone in Khuzestan Province, is a key pillar of Iran’s petrochemical sector.
â– Sirens sounded in northern Israel and in the Negev amid an Iranian missile barrage. The IDF intercepted one missile; shrapnel fell in an open area and no injuries were reported.
â– Iranian drones caused “significant damage” to government office complexes, power and desalination plants, and the Shuwaikh oil sector complex northwest of Kuwait City, Kuwait authorities said. No casualties were reported.
â– British Prime Minister Keir Starmer criticized the booking of U.S. rapper Kanye West as headliner for Wireless Festival in London, citing previous Nazi messaging and antisemitic remarks. “Antisemitism in any form is abhorrent and must be confronted clearly and firmly wherever it appears,” he said.
â– Former Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef sharply criticized Israel’s High Court of Justice, calling it “an enemy of Judaism.” Yosef later clarified that he did not call for violence against the judges, saying, “God will give them their punishment.”
