According to the Crown Chronicles, the name “may have been inspired by its shape, which some observers liken to the delicate structure of a raspberry seed.” The topaz and diamond jewel’s origins can be traced back to 1881 when it was presented as a wedding gift to Cecilia Nina Bowes-Lyon, Countess of Strathmore and Kinghorne. Eventually it made its way into the Royal Collection through the Queen Mother, who passed it onto Queen Elizabeth.

While she often borrows fine jewelry such as necklaces and earrings from the Royal Collection, Queen Camilla debuted a new mystery brooch at Maundy Thursday services a few days ago. The sapphire and diamond bauble designed in the shape of a crown was speculated to be a gift from King Charles in honor of their 21st wedding anniversary this month.
