Only in Israel: Imagine you’re trying to order pizzas to feed your son’s unit stationed way, way up north, for post-Pesach, and of course none will answer during the holiday. So you call a local business that appears on Google Maps just to get advice on whether the local pizzerias deliver to bases nearby, etc…

And now you’re best friends with Tzvika from Shlomi, who not only wants to drive the pizzas to the soldiers on the base but insists that he’ll add bottles of soda and make sure they’re all ok.

I just can’t. Started crying when he began to tell me, ‘Listen, this is how we are going to do this..’. All this, while he is dealing with missiles overhead, his family living on the border, and losing his tourism work.

And when this is all over, I’ll publish his airbnb so we’ll all go stay there, with a beautiful view of Lebanon just a stone’s throw to the north. (Hint: Look up ‘Betty’s House’ in Shlomi.)

I am speechless, in tears, and oh so proud to be part of this crazy, wonderful nation.
