Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for Daredevil: Born Again season 2, episode 4.The MCU’s Multiverse Saga finally has a new top villain, and it’s all thanks to the stunning Disney+ Marvel series Daredevil: Born Again. While Daredevil: Born Again occupies a fairly small corner of the MCU, with the majority of the story taking place in New York, and it maintains a focus on street-level issues, they have managed to introduce some of the best villains to the MCU to date, with characters like Kingpin and Bullseye.

Meanwhile, in the rest of the Multiverse Saga, we have been introduced to villains who have been dispatched in quick succession, or characters like Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, who may be intimidating and wield power, but they are no match for most superheroes. However, Daredevil: Born Again season 2 has firmly established Benjamin Poindexter as the stand-out villain in this era.

Bullseye Deserves The Crown For The Multiverse Saga’s Best Villain

Benjamin Poindexter, as played by Wilson Bethel, got his start back on the Netflix Marvel series, Daredevil. There, he established his incredible prowess and proficiency, and gave Matt Murdock a run for his money by matching his skills and fighting style to not only impersonate the Daredevil of Hell’s Kitchen, but to almost take down Murdock in combat.

When the character returned in season 1 of Daredevil: Born Again, his story became even more intertwined with Murdock’s, as he was the one responsible for pulling the trigger and killing Foggy, Matt’s best friend, on the orders of Mayor Fisk’s wife, Vanessa. This led to Matt almost breaking his moral code and attempting to kill Bullseye, but Bullseye proved he was durable enough to endure being tossed off a building.

Now, he returns in Daredevil: Born Again season 2, and it’s fair to say that he has been stealing the spotlight thanks to his erratic behavior, extreme views of justice, and a desperate need to balance the scales. With all of that said, Bullseye has become one of the most enduring, motivated, and well-fleshed-out villains to appear in the Multiverse Saga to date.

The Multiverse Saga Villains Have Been Lacking

While there were big plans to make Jonathan Majors’ Kang the big bad of the Multiverse Saga, these plans were ultimately scrapped, and Doctor Doom stepped in to fill the void. However, Kang’s defeat in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania felt incredibly lacking, considering how much his story was being built up, and Doctor Doom has yet to show his face in so much as a post-credits scene, though we did get to see his crouched silhouette under a green cloak at the end of The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

Besides the biggest baddies of this era, there were some looming villains with potential. Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher, for example. And yet, despite the casting and the potential for this villain to pose a serious threat, he was overpowered by children and love.

Beyond that, some of the most interesting villains of this era have actually been heroes with complex morals and shifting stories. Wanda Maximoff, Robert Reynolds, and Agnes Harkness. Due to the lack of commitment to the dark side among all of these characters, it’s hard to call them true villains.

Doctor Doom Still Has A Chance To Take The Top Spot As Marvel’s Best Villain

At present, Benjamin Poindexter is pulling ahead with a clear lead as the Multiverse Saga’s best villain, but there is still one character lurking around the corner who has the potential to take the top spot. Of course, it’s Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. As far as Marvel Comics and the wider world of comic books are concerned, Doctor Doom is one of the greatest villains of all time.

Unfortunately, previous live-action adaptations of Victor von Doom have been lacking, but RDJ stands a chance to make this the most compelling and layered version of the villain ever seen on the big screen. While Bullseye enjoys a nearly unchallenged placement as the Multiverse Saga’s best villain, Doctor Doom’s arrival could absolutely change up the rankings, but for now, I can’t wait to see more of Bullseye in Daredevil: Born Again season 2.
