After Marvel had teased the fact that there were going to be two Spider-Men in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man, the shocking revelation of HOW there were going to be two Spider-Men in Amazing Spider-Man #11 still came as quite a shock. Peter Parker had been sent into outer space, and so Norman Osborn has taken over for him in his absence on Earth, while Ben Reilly has taken over as “Peter Parker.” In outer space, Peter was saved by an alien scientist, who worked with Peter in trying to get Peter stronger for a rematch with the mysterious being known as Hellgate (who had sent Peter into outer space in the first place). Peter, though, discovered that the alien scientist had been keeping other aliens prisoner so that he could experiment on them, and as you know, Spider-Man has this whole thing about great responsibility, and so Spidey both freed the prisoners, and also stole the fancy power suit that the scientist had been using, and Spidey fashioned it into a brand-new costume with mysterious new abilities. Among the alien prisoners was Rocket Raccoon, and in this CBR exclusive preview of next week’s Amazing Spider-Man #13, we see how Spider-Man, Rocket, and the other aliens do next.
Amazing Spider-Man #13 is from writer Joe Kelly, artist Pepe Larraz, colorists Marte Gracia and Erick Arciniega, and letterer Joe Carmagna, and it ties in with the current cosmic upheaval that is going down in the crossover event, Imperial.

In the preview pages, we see Spider-Man’s cosmic adventures tying in with the events of Imperial, as the galactic overlords of the universe have all been removed, and so things are extremely chaotic at the moment, and Spider-Man and his amazing cosmic friends plan to bribe some officials to drop off some “cargo” on the planet (presumably one of the aliens who was kidnapped by the evil scientist).
However, we see that Rocket Raccoon doesn’t like to actually pay bribes, and instead just attacks, and Spider-Man is forced to go into battle by his side. However, Rocket is at least giving SOME concessions to Spider-Man, as he is using non-lethal weapons. We won’t get to see what the cargo is in the preview, though, so if you want to see what they’re doing (and how Spider-Man is getting back to Earth), you’ll have to pick up a copy of Amazing Spider-Man #13 next week!
