Over the past week, production has been winding down on the newest season of Sweet Magnolias, which began filming in early June for its next 10 episodes. Today, the official account for the show confirms that cameras are no longer rolling and the show is now entering its post-production phase, ahead of its expected return in 2026.
We haven’t had many updates throughout production on Season 5. We got to see all three of the main cast in New York as part of filming in New York’s iconic Grand Central Station, and there have been plenty of eyewitnesses catching the series in the wild in and around Atlanta, Georgia.
The news of the wrap came from the official Instagram account for the show, posting earlier today alongside a picture of plastic cups complete with lemon and strawberries:
“We’ve talked about it, prayed about it, and poured it out. That’s a wrap on Season 5! Here’s a toast to our incredible cast, crew, writers, and producers — for their hard work, their passion, and their love. Have a margarita and celebrate! And for the fans: We can’t wait to welcome you back to Serenity.”

While today came the official account’s wrap messages, some of the other cast and crew have already posted over the past week.
Jamie Lynn Spears posted on September 16th that she’d concluded her section of the show, writing:
“That’s a wrap on S5 of SWEET MAGS, and it’s bittersweet, bc we can’t wait to get it finished and share it with yall, but we miss our sweet mags family so much when we wrap shooting. I think this show is uniquely special, bc it’s about so many different people from all walks of life coming together and learning to love and embrace each other no matter how flawed or misjudged they are. I know some may say, well that’s bc it’s a tv show and it’s not real life, but I beg to differ, bc when the camera stops rolling and the cast and crew are there as themselves, it’s the exact same environment. We come from far and wide, and drastically different backgrounds, but come together to create something we love and are proud of while also getting to know one another and creating our own little family. It’s something I think our world needs more of, and maybe that’s why it’s loved and cherished by so many of you around the world. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to get to be a part of this show, and all the wonderful humans who bring it to life. Can’t wait for y’all to see Season 5, and we can all #POURITOUT together”
Showrunner Sheryl Anderson similarly posted last week:
“POUR IT OUT!!! A season wrap toast to the remarkable cast, crew, and writers who make Serenity my favorite place on the planet. They are talented, dedicated, and the most loving community I’ve ever worked with. What a privilege to do what you love with people you love!!!”
Young actress Ella Grace Helton also shared a video upon wrapping and offered some handy guidance as to when season 5 will come out and why it’ll take some time before that happens, writing:
“It’s a wrap! Season 5 of @sweetmagnoliasnetflix was another wonderful adventure with the kindest cast and crew. It takes place in the fictional town of Serenity, South Carolina and is shot mostly in Atlanta.
…
When will season 5 come out? Stay tuned! It has to be edited, dubbed into many languages and prepped for release on Netflix. Meanwhile, you can stream season 1-4. Ella plays Katie Townsend in seasons 3-5.
Will there be a season 6? Stay tuned! Tradition has been Netflix makes the renewal announcement for this show a few months after the new season is released.
Finally, Artemis, who plays Lily in the show, posted a video alongside many of the younger cast mates upon their final day on set:
We’ll soon be updating our complete guide to everything we know about season 5 of Sweet Magnolias in due course, which contains even more information about the returning and new cast members, all the production updates we got throughout filming, and our best guess as to when the next season is coming (spoiler: sometime next Spring/Summer).
