Kylie Jenner Reveals How She Reacted to Daughter Asking Why 'Whole Family' Is Famous

Kylie Jenner says her and Travis Scott’s daughter, Stormi, recently asked her why their entire family is famous, leading to an emotional moment in which the past collided with the present.

In the debut episode of Kid Cudi’s Big Bro podcast, seen in full here, Jenner was asked to detail any experiences she’s had involving her children coming to the realization that they too are in the spotlight. While such realizations haven’t yet hit Aire, her and Travis’s second child together, Stormi—perhaps due to school talk, per Jenner’s own speculation—has started asking questions.

“I think it’s, like, super maybe normal to them,” Jenner told Cudi. “It’s pretty normal, I think. You know, they see people come up to me and ask me for photos. My son, not so much. My daughter, for sure now. … The other day, she said ‘Why are we famous? Why is our whole family famous? Because that’s crazy.’ I’m like, actually, let me try to answer this for you.”

As Jenner sees it, some kids in school are “fans” of Scott, which she believes may have led to this line of questioning from their daughter.

“I think it’s becoming more present in her mind, but she said ‘Why are we famous?’” Jenner added. “I sat her down. I was like, ‘We started a television show when I was a year older than you and that’s why we’re all in this together, because we were all on the show together.’ She was like, ‘Can I watch it?’ and I’m like, ‘Sure.’ So we turned on the first episode.”

While some of the material proved “inappropriate,” Jenner said it inspired a swell of emotion that she still can’t quite put to words.

“I was so emotional after,” she said. “I don’t know what hit me but I was weeping in my bed. I don’t know why that happened to me. Maybe it’s my daughter being the same age as I was and just seeing my family, feeling so grateful for all that we’ve built but also mourning that closeness when we were all kind of living under the same roof.”
