The 2026 FIBA China Youth Training Partners Conference was held at the FIBA House of Basketball in Jinhua from March 31 to April 2, 2026.
The conference, themed “bringing Spanish basketball expertise to China”, attracted participation from over 630 youth training coaches and practitioners nationwide.
The 2026 conference marked a significant upgrade, introducing for the first time the “one country, in-depth focus” model, with the Spanish basketball youth training system as the subject of deep study.
The event featured systematic instruction from two renowned Spanish championship coaches: Jorge Lorenzo, assistant coach of the Spanish national team and a member of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 champions’ coaching staff, and Marco Justo, head coach of the FIBA U18 EuroBasket 2025 title-winning team.
Over the two-day conference, the course content achieved a closed loop from theory to practice. The Spanish coaches delivered teachings centered on core modules such as defensive systems, fast break and offensive structures, and youth training methodology.
Their instruction methods extended to specialized practical training sessions with local youth players, allowing attendees to observe world-class methods up close.
Crucially, each session was followed by localized interpretation and insights from Chinese basketball legends, including former national team players and FIBA Coach Instructors.
This approach built a bridge between international expertise and domestic practice, helping coaches better absorb and adopt imparted knowledge.
During the conference, the new season of the 2026 FIBA Youth 3×3 was launched, with plans for competition format upgrades announced.
The “club report program” and the inaugural FIBA China Youth Training Golden Week Tournament were also unveiled, demonstrating FIBA China Youth Basketball’s commitment to refining its industry service ecosystem.
The conference organizers presented commemorative plaques to key enterprise partners that collectively form the ecosystem that supports youth basketball development in China.
In the closing segment the conference recognized outstanding institutions and awarded certain of them – including Kunming USBA and Shenzhen Key Player – with the annual “Five-Star Certified Institution” award which is the highest level of recognition within the FIBA China system for certified partners.
Evolving into a deep dive into the Spanish system, this conference provided a professional platform for in-depth learning, exchange, and collaboration for China’s basketball youth training practitioners.
