Microsoft Gaming CEO Asha Sharma has reportedly stated that Xbox Game Pass pricing will change, noting it has “become too expensive for players.”
In an internal memo obtained by The Verge, Sharma said the subscription service requires “a better value equation.”
“Long term, we will evolve Game Pass into a more flexible system, which will take time to test and learn around.”
Last year, Xbox increased the price of Game Pass by up to 50%. Microsoft’s director of gaming and platform communications, Dustin Blackwell, stated the increases were intended to strengthen offerings by “adding more value to these plans.”
“It’s something we don’t take lightly, and we’re listening to the feedback of players and the community to try and provide them with more of what they’re asking for.”
The firm later clarified that existing customers on auto-renewing plans in select regions would not be affected by the price increases.
These regions include Germany, Ireland, South Korea, Poland, and India. If customers in these countries cancel or repurchase their plan, they will be billed at the current rate.
