Henry Winkler put it all on the line during his latest TV cameo
The Happy Days alum reflected on doing his first-ever nude scene in Apple TV’s Loot during a Monday, April 13 interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
“The wind came from every direction,” Winkler said
Henry Winkler was fine with things getting a little chilly while filming his first-ever nude scene.
The veteran actor, 80, revealed on the Monday, April 13 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! that he “didn’t ask to read the script” before agreeing to join the third season of Apple TV’s Loot, in which he plays the head of a nudist colony who, indeed, bares it all.
“Maya Rudolph is one of my favorites. She is a brilliant, brilliant person and a lovely person. So when she asked me to be on the first episode, I didn’t even ask to read the script,” Winkler said of the latest season, which premiered in October.
“Then I went in for a costume fitting. And the first thing they tried on was a silk robe that went to here,” he added, pointing to his thigh. “There was nothing else. That was it. And I said, ‘No, no, no.’ And they said, ‘No, there’s [also] a piece of jewelry.'”

The scene, Winkler added, was filmed “on the beach” in January. “And I want to say, the wind came from every direction,” Winkler said. “Parts of my body, large and small… It was so cold. I was in shock. But then I was with Maya and her wonderful cast.”
In the episode, Winkler plays a billionaire named Gerald Canning. Much of the nudity is censored, with Rudolph revealing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in October that the cast members playing nudists were covered in “nude-colored sports shorts.”
“I feel like people were a little bit cold, and I felt very guilty because everyone was, like, over 70,” the Bridesmaids star admitted. “But there were a few individuals who enjoyed it a little too much and volunteered not to wear any of the clothing at all. And we were letting them know, like, it’s OK.”

As for Winkler’s participation, Rudolph said she pitched the nude scenes to the actor herself. “He knows that I’m a big fan. I’ve been in love with him since I was a little kid,” she said. “No joke. Like, truly since Happy Days. Arthur Fonzarelli was supposed to be my husband. I don’t know what happened, but Henry is the greatest. And just goes to show you is, like, up for doing anything.”
Winkler, who marked his milestone 80th birthday back in October, returns with a new season of Hazardous History on April 19.
The HISTORY Channel series — which is hosted, narrated and executive produced by Winkler — tells the stories of “things we did for fun, for money, or out of plain boredom that you can’t do anymore,” per a synopsis. Speaking with Kimmel on Monday, Winkler thanked fans. “We only did eight episodes to begin with and they just picked us up for 30.”
