A massive internet outage hit thousands of customers Friday across Dallas.
Nearly 25,000 customers of internet provider Spectrum reported losing service Friday afternoon in North and Central Texas, according to tracking site DownDetector. In addition to Dallas, the hardest-hit cities included Irving, Plano, Arlington, Austin and San Antonio, according to the site.
Spectrum acknowledged the outage on X but did not say what caused it.
“Spectrum Customers, we are aware of an interruption of services in parts of Central and North Texas,” the company wrote. “We are working to restore services as quickly as possible and appreciate your patience.”

Some customers received text messages from Spectrum, which estimated restoration by 6:30 p.m.
Spectrum is one of the nation’s largest internet providers with more than 31 million customers in 41 states across the country.
