Bar-Ilan University awarded an honorary doctorate to Argentinian President Javier Milei, in recognition of years of partnership with the State of Israel and a public and international fight against antisemitism. The ceremony was held in the presence of Bar-Ilan University President Professor Aryeh Zaban. The degree was awarded, among other things, in recognition of President Milei’s political support, “and especially for his unwavering stance in the international effort to return the Israeli hostages from Hamas captivity in Gaza,” the university said. Returnees and family members from the Argentinian community who were abducted to the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, and released from Hamas captivity in Gaza, were invited as guests of honor of the university and the president of Argentina. Among those present at the ceremony were Yair Horn, David Cunio, Sharon Cunio and Luis Har.
