Justin Bieber has been dressing like he’s got something to prove lately. Not in a try-hard way, but in that locked-in, “this just makes sense to me” kinda way. And on the second weekend of Coachella, he pulled up in a fit that looked like it was swiped straight from the early-00s hip-hop playbook. Think MTV TRL-era, peak mixtape circuit, slightly baggy everything.
At the center of it all was a sleeveless hoodie with big, linebacker-y shoulder pads. It was designed by LA-based artist Greg Ross, who has a reputation for almost bodybuilder-coded shapes, taking everyday staples and pushing them into something a little more more sculptural. On the Canadian pop star, it hit that sweet spot: strong, a bit aggressive, but still casual enough to throw on without overthinking it.

Beyond the hoodie swap, Bieber’s fit wasn’t terribly different from what he sported the weekend prior. On his feet, he once again rocked Loewe’s Bobby Bag desert boots. Released as part of the label’s latest collection, the curved cutouts (inspired by the handles of the house’s actual Bobby bag) make them easy to pull on and off, while the calf suede upper and stamped anagram logos keep things nice and clean. There’s a beefy lug sole too, so they’re actually built for stomping, not just standing around looking good. Bieber’s been on a Loewe wave for a minute now—last year, he couldn’t stop wearing the label’s Lago fur boots and Terra Vulca skate sneakers.
Unlike those pairs, though, the Bobby Bag boots lean a bit more left-field—which tracks, considering new creative directors Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez have been pushing Loewe into slightly weirder territory. It’s less about obvious wearability, more about shape and detail—pieces that feel a bit off at first, then suddenly make complete sense once you see ’em on.
The rest of the look—beanie, jorts, shades—all hailed from Bieber’s own label, Skylrk, which is built around loose fits, offbeat proportions, and a slightly worn-in feel. Nothing too polished, nothing too styled, just easy pieces that look sick without much effort.
Put together, Bieber’s look taps straight into that 2002 music video energy: oversized, confident, and chaotic. And while it’s not a vibe that all guys can pull off, it’s easy to appreciate how fun it is.
