As we know by now, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are splitting their time between the US and the UK. However, their UK life has hit another major hurdle (and it’s making fans question if their UK move is gonna stick)!

Not only have locals tried to stop them expanding, along with excessive flooding, but insiders also reported to The Daily Mail that while the pair are looking to build new horse stables at their Cotswolds home, it has hit a hurdle. While they submitted an application to the West Oxfordshire District Council, an archaeological team says they can’t because the property may have Roman remains buried underneath.

The team told the outlet, “Historic maps and aerial photographs suggest that the area of the proposed stable building has not seen previous development as part of the farm, and so, it is possible that Roman remains survive on the site.”

For those who don’t know, DeGeneres and Rossi met back in 2001 at a Rock the Vote concert. However, they didn’t get together until 2004 after breaking up with their respective partners. When they reconnected in 2004, they split with their respective partners, and they started dating. The pair later got engaged, and married in Aug 2008.
As we said before, after Trump’s victory in the 2024 U.S. presidential election, DeGeneres and Rossi left their California properties to move to the UK, later confirming that the election was the reason. They sold one UK home but still have their multi-million dollar mansion with their horses.
However, earlier this year, it was reported that the pair bought producer Brian Grazer’s Montecito mansion for $27.4 million in an off-market deal at the end of November, sparking rumors of their return to the US. But now we know, they’re splitting time!
An insider told People that the pair are “not moving back to the U.S. but will continue to split her time between both the U.K. and Montecito, [Calif.].” They added that the pair have been “missing the California weather and horse scene.”
