Shayk’s surprising style moment comes just two days before the 2026 Met Gala, which will celebrate the theme “Costume Art.”
Irina Shayk is giving the LBD an upgrade ahead of the 2026 Met Gala. Just days out from the most anticipated fashion event of the year, Shayk showed off her style prowess while attending the pre-Met Gala party in New York City. Embracing the monochrome look, the runway model arrived in an asymmetrical, black minidress covered in dangerously-low hip cutouts.
The halter dress featured a narrow, asymmetrical neckline with an abstract bodice and a ruffled skirt. The top half of the piece provided full coverage for the model, but the lower half of the design was far from modest. At the waist, the opaque fabric flared in all directions, creating see-through waves that resulted in a sculptural silhouette. She paired the ensemble with matching black underwear.

On either side of her hips, Shayk rocked large hip cutouts across her upper thighs. The design also featured a massive, tear drop-shaped cutout across the bodice. Shayk completed the outfit with vibrant red lipstick, strappy, heeled sandals, and a black blazer by Alaïa.

Other stars in attendance included Kendall Jenner, Serena Williams, and Nicole Kidman. For the special occasion, Jenner wore a sophisticated, vintage dress with a plunging neck and charming bow tie closures from Thierry Mugler’s fall/winter 1993 collection. Meanwhile, Williams, accompanied by her husband Alexis Ohanian, arrived in a sculptural minidress with an asymmetrical sweetheart neckline, designed by Magda Butrym. For her ensemble, Kidman also stunned in a liquid illusion menswear look composed of a sleek black blazer, and high-waisted, wide-leg trousers, and a white silk dress shirt paired with an undone black silk bow tie.

A day earlier, Shayk attended Vogue’s pre-Met Gala party—hosted by Chloe Malle, Teyana Taylor, and Simone Ashley—at Madame Tussauds in New York City. For the star-studded event, she wore a white, sleeveless maxi dress with a high neck. The breezy design, by Issey Miyake, featured shirring detail across the front and a structured skirt with sculptural pleats. She styled the outfit with dramatic gold earrings that dropped down to her shoulders, a metallic clutch, and naked shoes by Gianvito Rossi. The heels featured gold points at the toes and a see-through base that created the illusion Shayk was walking on air.
