Warning: There are spoilers ahead for Peacemaker season 2, episode 6.James Gunn gives a major update on whether there will be a Peacemaker season 3 after the show’s wildest twist yet. Peacemaker season 2, episode 6 ends by revealing that the alternate dimension where Christopher Smith (John Cena) and the other main characters are is Earth-X, where Nazis run the world.
In this dimension, Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks) is chased while walking down a suburban street because she is a person of color. This dimension’s version of Peacemaker’s brother, Keith (David Denman), is heard shouting, “One got out!” as he and the angry mob pursue her.
In an interview with Collider, Gunn was asked if there would be a third season after episodes 7 and 8. He confirms that a season 3 is not in the works right now, but clarifies that Peacemaker and the other characters still have a future in the DCU. Check out his comments below:
It is not right now. I think that people should— that doesn’t mean there aren’t plans for these characters, but it’s not necessarily Season 3 of Peacemaker. And then people should watch Episode 8 to see what happens, because maybe some of your questions will be answered in that episode by itself.
What This Means For Peacemaker

Based on Gunn’s comments, the next story for Peacemaker, Adebayo, and the rest of the show’s characters after season 2 will not be in season 3 and will instead be in other DCU movies or shows. Peacemaker already had a cameo in Superman, and now there is a good chance that he will have a more substantial role in a future project.
Despite the explosive and game-changing twist in episode 6, Gunn’s remarks also indicate that the chaos will be resolved by the end of season 2, episode 8. The finale is unlikely to end on a major cliffhanger, as it sounds like this season’s major questions will be answered while also setting up what is next for these characters in the DCU.
While there are currently no plans for Peacemaker season 3, it does not mean the series is definitely over. The DCU is still in very early stages, and depending on the plans that Gunn has for these characters, the show could definitely resume at a later point in the universe’s timeline.
As for which project the characters could appear in after Peacemaker season 2, the 2027 movie Man of Tomorrow is a prime candidate. Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) also appears in episode 6 and makes a deal with Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo), and Man of Tomorrow involves Lex and Superman (David Corenswet) having to team up against a larger threat.

Peacemaker ending after season 2 would be disappointing, but the idea of seeing these characters play important roles in other DCU stories is exciting. Ideally, Peacemaker and the 11th Street Kids will be in Man of Tomorrow and other upcoming projects, along with eventually getting a third season of their own show as well.
