Earning widespread acclaim for her performance as Lucy MacLean in Prime Video’s popular series Fallout, you’d be forgiven for thinking the brilliant Ella Purnell is a relative newbie to the industry. Having dazzled in her dark comedy series, Sweetpea, and earned countless fans with her voice work as Jinx in Netflix’s acclaimed animated series Arcane, Purnell has had quite the decade so far.
However, fourteen years ago, a young Purnell made her third-ever film performance in the horror movie Intruders. A blend of thrilling mystery and breathless horror, the film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival but sadly failed to make any sort of impact, limping to a poor 29% from critics and an even worse 22% from audiences on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. However, a lot has changed in fourteen years, including just how many would love to catch one of Purnell’s earliest roles. Luckily for you, Intruders is officially joining the ranks of Vizio as of October 1, 2025, perfectly timed for spooky season. For anyone yet to see Intruders, here’s a look at the movie’s synopsis:
“Two children, one in Spain and the other in England, are terrorized by a hooded, faceless phantom that has seemingly sprung from the pages of the horror stories they wrote. The creature, called Hollow Face, appears nightly above the bed of young Juan (Izán Corchero), leading his mother to seek help from a priest (Daniel Brühl). Meanwhile, British girl Mia (Purnell) watches as Hollow Face creeps out of her closet and attacks, while her father (Clive Owen) is helpless to defend her.”
What Is Ella Purnell Doing Next?
Following a hugely successful 2024, Purnell has had a quiet 2025 so far, with that all set to change in December when Fallout finally returns for a hotly anticipated second season. On the big screen, Purnell’s next project has yet to get a release date, but it should remain on many people’s radars. Likened to Cocaine Bear, the story of a killer squirrel in The Scurry is sure to find its audience, thanks in part to its wild premise, but also the inclusion of Purnell alongside the likes of Rhys Ifans, Paapa Essiedu, and Antonia Thomas. Speaking about the movie with Collider’s Steve Weintraub, Purnell perfectly teased, “It’s either going to be the coolest thing ever or it’s going to ruin my career. But I think it’s going to be good.”
Intruders is streaming on Vizio starting October 1, 2025.
